Tech Soccer Picked 5th & 8th to Open 2013 Campaign
LA GRANDE, Ore. – After placing third in last year’s conference standings the Oregon Tech women’s soccer team was selected to finish 5th, while the men’s soccer team looks to move up the CCC poll after an 8th place prediction.
Both the Concordia Cavalier men and women were unanimous choices to win the 2013 Cascade Conference soccer title in their respective side, as predicted in the coaches' preseason poll.
On the men’s side Evergreen was selected second in the early prognostication. Northwest edged out Warner Pacific by one point for third while Corban, College of Idaho, Northwest Christian and Oregon Tech rounded out the poll.
On the women’s soccer side Northwest was the clear favorite to take second in the CCC preseason. Southern Oregon edged out Corban for third while Oregon Tech is predicted fifth this season. College of Idaho was selected sixth in the poll, followed by Northwest Christian, Eastern Oregon, Evergreen and Warner Pacific.
The women’s CCC tournament expands by two to six teams this season, beginning on Nov. 6. The regular season champion and the runner-up will earn a berth in the tournament semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinals, which matches the No. 3 and 6 seeds and the 4 and 5 seeds. Semifinals will be held on campus sites on Nov. 9 while the highest remaining seed will host finals on Nov. 16. The CCC’s tournament champion will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships, which begin Nov. 23.
For the men the CCC tournament will feature the top four teams in the regular season standings. The semifinals will be held on campus sites on Nov. 12 with the winners playing on Nov. 16 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
