Knights Slay Owls
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – Warner Pacific used a balance attack scoring three times in each half to down Oregon Tech 6-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action Wednesday night on Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. The Knights improve to 3-4-0 on the season and 2-1 in conference play with the victory. Oregon Tech falls to 0-6-1 on the season and 0-3 in CCC action with the loss.
The two teams exchanged attacks over the first 20 minutes of play with neither team able to find the net, but that changed in the 22nd minute when Alberto Casas took a Almir Celebic pass from the middle to the right and snuck in a shot to the back of net from 15 yards out, giving the Knights the 1-0 lead.
Celebic would feed Jameson Jones just 3 minutes later as Jones took the short pass and scored from 5 yards out, putting Warner Pacific up 2-0.
Brandon Tatum finished the first half scoring for WP in the 42 minute as he took a Robert Brewer cross and scored from 35 yards out giving the Knights a 3-0 lead at halftime.
The Knights didn’t waste anytime putting the game away in the 2nd half as they scored 2 goals within the first 7 minutes. Andres Campos made it a 4-0 lead scoring in the 50th minute as he took a Tatum cross and chipped the ball in over the OIT keeper. Just over a minute later Josh Wright scored unassisted, striking a laser into the left corner of the net from 25 yard away.
Jones then scored his second goal of the day in the 84th minute, sealing the 6-0 win for the Knights.
For the game, Warner Pacific out shot Oregon Tech 28-15 and held a 12-8 lead in shots on goal.
Oregon Tech was led by Ashton Betts who had 3 shots on goal with Trevor Garrard adding 2 shots on frame.
Dorian Lair had 8 saves in the shut out win for the Knights.
Loren Jessen was credited with 4 saves with Tanner Lee grabbing 2 saves between the Pipes for Oregon Tech.
The Hustlin’ Owls will next host College of Idaho (0-5-2, 0-3) in CCC action Saturday, September 22nd at 1:00pm at Steen Sports Park. Warner Pacific will host Evergreen State (3-3, 3-0) at 5:00 pm in Portland, Ore.
