Oregon Tech Men 5th, Women 7th in Cross Country Conference Championship

PORTLAND, Ore. – Placing all seven runners in the top 20, top-ranked Southern Oregon dominated the men’s field, while individual champion Hillary Holt of College of Idaho led the way for a women’s team title at the 2012 Cascade Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships held at Lents Park in Portland.
Scott Minor led the pack for Oregon Tech placing 5th overall in 25:17.03 in an 8K race won by C of I’s Greg Montgomery in 24:35.72. Also for Tech Jeff Pelarde placed 14th with a time of 25:33.62, while Kirby Garlitz (24th-26:07.41), James Hull (40th-26:50.91) and Paul Adams (60th-27:48.24) rounded out the scoring today for the Owls.
Behind SOU (28 points) and 2nd place College of Idaho (62) was Concordia (82) in 3rd place. Rounding out the field were Eastern Oregon (106), Oregon Tech (129), Northwest Christian (148), Corban (208), Warner Pacific (230), and Northwest University (238).
The Yote women posted a team score of 39, well ahead of second place Eastern Oregon. C of I runners Sarah Johnson (5th) and Sora Klopfenstein (7th), and Andrea Hayes (9th) helped the purple and gold claim the trophy.
Tech runner Sara Howard led the Owl women posting a 19:14.8 time in the 5K in a race won by C of I’s Holt in a course record 16:52. Howard was 26th overall, followed by Tech junior Ashley Baldovino in 29th with a time of 19:24.29. Rounding out the scoring for the Owls were Mary Matchett (35th-19:40.03), Kayla Parsons (42nd-19:51.99) and Elissa Brouillard (44th-19:55.06)
EOU finished 2nd as a team with 71 points, just ahead of Northwest Christian at 72 points. Rounding out the field for the women were Northwest (115), Concordia (120), Southern Oregon (136), Oregon Tech (164), Corban (196), and Warner Pacific (221) rounded out the team standings.
