Oregon Tech uses Second Half Comeback to Edge Cal Maritime

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Trailing by a dozen at the half, Oregon Tech used an 18-2 run over a span of four minutes early in period 2 to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, as the Lady Owls held on for a 67-60 win tonight over Cal Maritime in game 3 of the Midland Empire Insurance Classic at Danny Miles Court.

Oregon Tech moves to 4-2 overall, while Cal Maritime falls to 0-5 on the season.
Oregon Tech jumped up early, 7-2, before Cal Maritime rattled off the next 14 points to take a 9 point lead with 12:04 in period 1. The Owls would answer with 8-straight points, before the Keelhauler’s closed out the half on a 14-3 spurt to lead 30-18.
Cal Maritime would take two 14 point leads, the last at the 17:32 mark, before the Owls rallied behind an 18-2 run to take their first lead of the second half and never trailed again. Oregon Tech took a double digit lead, 67-57, their largest of the night, with under a minute to play before settling for a 67-60 win.
Three Owls finished in double figures led by Karissa Dixon with 17 points to go with 6 rebounds. Colleen Hunt would add 15 points and Nicole Aboumrad 13 points and a game-high 8 rebounds.
Julia Tani led the Keelhauler’s with a game-high 18 points, including 4-of-5 from the 3-point line. Javier Brantley followed with 17 points with Jordan Mootz adding 10 points and 8 rebounds.
