Oregon Tech Hires New Pitching Coach

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech head baseball coach Matt Miles has named Nick Gauna as the program’s new assistant baseball and pitching coach.

Gauna most recently was an assistant coach with the Palm Spring Power and served the past two seasons as the pitching coach at Kansas Wesleyan University. While at KWU, he coached three pitchers who were all-conference selections, including a pitcher who tossed a no-hitter. Gauna also had prior stints at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and at Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.

nick gaunaIn two seasons at KWU, the Coyotes averaged 22 victories, and at Friends University helped increase their win total by 13 and 11 wins, respectively, as the Falcons pitching coach. As a recruiting coordinator Gauna helped bring in 20 scholar athletes at Friends and an additional 10 at Brown Mackie.

“We are very excited to add Nick to our staff as his knowledge and passion for the game combined with his experience at the college level will be a great fit to develop our pitching staff,” mentioned Miles.

The Derby High School graduate (Derby, Kansas), competed at Labette Community College before finishing his collegiate career at Friends University. Gauna also spent seven summers coaching the Butler County Cubs, a travel team of 12-18 year-old player from the Augusta, Kansas area.

Coach Gauna holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Friends University.
