Tech’s Clarke Named to All-Conference Squad

Feb 27, 2013

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After receiving an all-conference honorable mention nod a year ago, Oregon Tech senior guard, David Clarke, earned a spot on the All-CCC first-team in a vote of the conference’s 10 coaches, the league office announced Wednesday.

Clarke, a 6-3 senior guard from Auckland, New Zealand was the lone Owl to receive postseason accolades in 2013.  Clarke averaged 12.5 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds a contest in leading OIT to a 16-15 overall mark.

Clarke finished the season 113-of-281 shooting (40.2%), including 64-for-184 (34.8%) from the 3-point line while finishing 73-99 at the charity stripe (73.7%).  Clarke finished second on the team in assists (84) and steals (27) and earned this year’s “Fred Pisor” team MVP Award in a vote by teammates and coaches.

Warner Pacific College’s Stephen Harris collected the 2013 CCC Player of the Year award.  The 6-5 senior forward from Hillsboro, Ore. led the CCC rebounding average (10.5 ppg), was third in steals (1.8 spg) and sixth in scoring (15.6 ppg) while averaging 33 minutes played per game. Harris was instrumental in leading the Knights to the CCC Tournament title and a share of the CCC regular-season title. Warner Pacific has earned one of two automatic berths to the NAIA Men’s Division II National Tournament, March 6-14 in Point Lookout, Mo.

Defender of the Year award went to Eastern Oregon’s Michael Crane, while Southern Oregon’s David Sturner was selected as 2012-13 Newcomer of the Year.

Isaac Williams of Eastern Oregon University was selected the CCC’s Coach of the Year after leading the Mountaineers to a share of the CCC regular season crown with Warner Pacific. EOU began the 2012-13 campaign winning 26 of the first 27 contests and spent five weeks at No. 1 in the NAIA coaches’ poll. EOU’s current rank of fourth should guarantee them a spot in the National Championship field.
