Jessup University defeated the Owls, 64-50, in men’s basketball action
on the opening day of the WJU Invitational Friday in Rocklin.
Oregon Tech will take a 1-1 mark into Saturday’s game versus Cal Pac member Cal-Maritime beginning at 1 p.m.
Three Owls finished in double-figures with Kyle Waits and Austen Flint knocking down 11 each. Waits would grab seven rebounds to take team-high honors. Duncan Schramm finished with 10 points to go with three rebounds and three steals with Brandon Bautista chipping in nine points in the loss for Tech.
Oregon Tech shot 17-of-56, but went cold from long distance, connecting on just 4-for-25. The Owls held the Warriors to just 16 field goals, but WJU would hit 28-of-35 attempts from the free throw line to just 12-for-18 for Tech. The Owls held a 34-30 edge in rebounds.
