ROCKLIN, Calif. –Fighting through an injury plagued tournament, Oregon Tech fell by a 62-58 final in day 2 of the William Jessup University Invitational Tournament in men’s basketball action today in Rocklin.
With three starters out, Oregon Tech managed to take Cal Maritime down to the wire only to see a 3-point attempt fall short, as the Owls fall to 1-2 overall. Tech will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday, hosting Cal Pac member Simpson University Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
Austen Flint scored a team-high 18 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. Duncan Schramm notched 14 points, followed by 13 points from Mihajlo Matic. Tanner Manselle finished with eight points and seven rebounds with Josh Johnson, leaving early in the second half, getting five points, two rebounds and three steals.
Oregon Tech shot 40.7 from the field on 22-of-54, including 10-of-27 from long range. The Owls held a 31-27 edge in rebounding. Cal Maritime finished 15-of-20 at the charity stripe and 22-of-52 from the field (42.3%).
