KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech used a 24-6 run over the last 10 minutes of the first half and never looked back, defeating Simpson University by a 92-59 final in non-conference men’s basketball action tonight at Danny Miles Court.

The game went back-and-forth throughout the first 10 minutes of play with Simpson leading 12-9 at the 16:27 mark.  It was the last lead the Redhawks would see.

A Duncan Schramm triple would tie the game, as the Owls moved up by seven, 21-14, on an Austen Flint 3-pointer with 12:20 remaining in the opening period.

Simpson would cut their deficit to one point, 24-23, on a steal and dunk by Anthony Williams, but that was as close as SU would get.

Oregon Tech would close out the half on a 24-6 run, including a buzzer beating 3-pointer by Tanner Manselle to take momentum, and a 48-29 lead, into the half.

A pair of Kyle Waits free throws coming out of the half gave the Owls their first 20 point cushion, 50-29, as the Owls moved up by as many as 29 points, 64-35, nearing the midway point of the second period.

The Owls held an 82-50 lead with under five minutes to play, eventually earning a 92-59 win.

Mihajlo Matic and Duncan Schramm tied for game-high honors with 17 points each, followed by 16 from Kyle Waits.  Austen Flint scored 12 points with Tanner Manselle pulling down eight rebounds to go with nine points.  Waits added six rebounds with Brandon Bautista handing out eight assists.

Tech would connect on 31-of-68 from the floor, including 15-for-31 from long range.

Ian Corella finished with 15 points to lead Simpson with Dalton Thacker adding 11 points in the loss.

Oregon Tech improved to 2-2 on the season and will next host Multnomah University on Tuesday, November 19th with the tip set for 7:30 p.m.
