LA GRANDE, Ore. – Brandon Bautista’s 3-point attempt as the buzzer sounded fell just short and Eastern Oregon escaped a late-game Owl comeback to win tonight’s Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball game by a 75-73 final tonight at Quinn Coliseum.
Oregon Tech is now even at 7-7 on the year and 2-2 in CCC play. EOU improved to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference standings.
Brandon Bautista led all scorers with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-10 from the field, including a 5-for-6 effort from long range. Josh Johnson came up with 11 points and his seven rebounds tied a game-high effort. Duncan Schramm and Tanner Manselle chipped in nine points each.
Four Mountaineers finished in double figures with Craig Tucker leading EOU with 18 points. Trevor Phillips finished up with 15 points, while Kyllian Wood and Tony Eackles added 14 each in the win.
The Owls were 25-of-52 (48.1%) from the field and 9-for-23 from long range. EOU edged Tech in rebounds 31-29. EOU knocked down 49.1% of their tries on 28-of-57 and were 7-for-17 from the 3-point line.
Oregon Tech will next host Vancouver Island, BC on back-to-back nights with game 1 beginning at 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 28th and play their last non-conference game of the season on Sunday, December 29th at 2:00 PM.
