KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Head coach Jack Kegg announced that Grace Smith (Scio, Ore.) and Caleb Kauffman (Boise, Idaho) will become the newest members of the cross country and track and field squads at Oregon Tech beginning next season.
At Scio High School, Smith holds PR’s in the 300 meter hurdles of 49.32, while holding a time of 65.32 in the 400 meter dash and 52.8 as part of the 4x100 meter relay team. The Senior Class President at SHS was the 2013 Pac West 300 meter hurdle champion and the 2012 Tri-River champion in the same event. Smith also competed in cross country and volleyball for the Loggers.
“Grace is a strong leader and competitive young lady that will be a strong conference competitor for us here at Oregon Tech.” Kegg mentioned.
Grace is the daughter of Kendall and Lori Smith and plans to major in diagnostic medical sonography at Oregon Tech beginning in the fall.
Kauffman, currently competing at Centennial High School in Boise, holds PR times in the 5K at 17:09, while timing in at 2:08 in the 800 meter race and 4:56 in the 1600 meters. Kauffman competed at the varsity level for four seasons in both cross country and track for the Patriots.
“Caleb is and exceptional student with great tools to develop as a quality runner in the cross country and track program,” mentioned Kegg.
Caleb is the son of Dana and Kristen Kauffman and plans to major in software engineering at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
