Owls Can’t Hold Late Lead in Opener, fall to Menlo in NAIA West Twinbill
ATHERTON, Calif. – Oregon Tech let a two run lead late in the opener get away in game 1, while Menlo College held the Owls to just one run in a 6-1 loss in game 2, as the Oaks swept Tech in NAIA West today in Atherton.
Aaron Bocchi finished with three hits on the day, including a double in game 1. Tech dropped a pair of game to Menlo College, 7-5 & 6-1.
Oregon Tech falls to 4-10 in league play and 12-24 overall. Oregon Tech and Menlo close out their NAIA West doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m.

Leading 5-3 heading into the seventh inning, Menlo plated a run in the seventh and took a lead in the eighth with three more runs. The Oaks held the Owls scoreless over their next two at-bat, as Tech fell by a 7-5 score.
Tyson Dahl and Aaron Bocchi recorded doubles in the opening game, while Dylan Rogers and Dustin Norman finished with two hits each. Ryan Hayden drove in a pair of runs in game 1 while Chase Meister (3-5) allowed nine hits over seven innings. Meister gave up six earned runs and struck out four.
Game 2 - Menlo starter Derek Martinez held Oregon Tech to just five hits in his seven innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run, in the fourth inning, as the Owls dropped today’s doubleheader.
Aaron Bocchi was the only Owl with two hits, with Ryan Hayden driving in Tech’s only run. Both Bocchi and Hayden recorded doubles in the nightcap. Tech starter, Craig Kathol, went five innings, striking out five and allowing five earned runs in the loss.
