2013 Baseball Campaign Opens in California

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –The Oregon Tech baseball team will look to improve on an 18-33 mark when the Owls take to California and open the 2013 campaign on February, 2^nd, at Simpson University in Redding.  Tech will play their next 10 games in the Golden State before returning to Oregon to play at NCAA III George Fox University followed by four games at the Concordia University Tournament.

Oregon Tech’s 55-game spring schedule includes 14 home contests, beginning with conference doubleheaders versus Corban University on Saturday, March 23^rd and Sunday, March 24^th.  Other home contests include conference doubleheaders versus The College of Idaho and University of British Columbia, both receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Poll, along with a non-conference doubleheader versus NCAA III Willamette University. 

Coming down to the final weekend of NAIA West action last season, and needing three wins in its final four games to earn a bid to the postseason, Oregon Tech’s hopes fell short, as Concordia edged out Tech for the final playoff berth.  The Owls won one more game overall than the previous season, while improving five games in the win column of NAIA West play, finishing 11-21 in the conference standings.

For the second-straight year weather proved to be a factor as the Owls were forced to play its first 38 contests on the road, including six would-be home contests in Medford, Ore.  The Owls played a total of eight games at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.

Back is senior catcher/first baseman Dylan Rogers, who led the 2012 Owls in batting with a .335 average, including a team-high 60 hits including 17 doubles, six homeruns and 46 RBI.
