Tech’s Lester Places 7th in Triple Jump, Earns All-American Honors

GENEVA, Ohio. – Keith Lester, Oregon Tech’s lone representative at the 2013 NAIA National Indoor Track and Field National Championships, finished 7th overall in Saturday’s triple jump event held at the Spire Institute. For his efforts Lester becomes an NAIA All-American in the event.

The Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's programs won the team titles at this year’s National Championships. The women take home a record-tying fifth national championship and the men hoist the banner for the first time. The Bison become the fifth different school to sweep the team championships and first since Azusa Pacific (Calif.) in 2004.
Lester, seeded No. 22 heading into today’s finals, recorded a mark of 14.27 meters, besting his old mark of 14-05 meters heading into the event. Lester reached his leap of 46-10 on his final try, while his 7th place finish gave Oregon Tech 47th place as a team at this year’s championship.
Augustus Cowan of Briar Cliff took top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 49-07.25.
