L-C State Sweeps Oregon Tech in NAIA West Play

LEWISTON, Idaho. – No. 8 Lewis-Clark State used big innings in both games to claim a sweep in today’s NAIA West doubleheader over Oregon Tech, 20-1 and 12-9. The victories today gave the Warriors a weekend series sweep over the Owls.

Oregon Tech falls to 8-19 overall and after being swept by the Warriors fall to 1-7 in NAIA West play.
Game 1 – The Warriors scored a single run in the first inning with the big blow for Tech coming in an eight run second and seven run fifth inning. L-C State used 14 hits to score 20 runs in the opener.
Tech’s lone run came in the fifth inning after Brent Hegdahl reached on an error followed by a Spencer Reed single. Both runners advanced on a ground out with Jared Nelson lifting a one out fly ball to left field to score Hegdahl.
Bryce McKinney, Reed, Alex Antonaras and Jared Nelson each had single hits for Tech in the game.
Game 2 – Trailing 3-2 after the second inning, L-C State plated five runs in their second at-bat and the Owls never recovered.
Oregon Tech pushed two runs across in the seventh and three more in the eighth innings, but the Warriors, after leading the Owls by an 8-4 score, added single runs in the sixth and eighth innings with a pair in the seventh to secure the 12-9 win.
Oregon Tech finished the nightcap with 14 hits, including a 4-for-5 effort by Ryan Hayden. Hayden recorded two doubles and two RBI, while Spencer Reed added the Owls’ only other extra base hit, a fourth inning homerun. Reed finished with two hits in the game. Dylan Rogers and Ben Krueger came up with two hits each with Rogers driving in two runs on singles. Alex Reynolds drove in two runs on a hit with Tyler Conklin adding a hit and RBI in the game.
