Minor, Garlitz Close Out National Meet in Marathon

MARION, Ind. – Long distance runner’s Kirby Garlitz and Scott Minor finished out competition for Oregon Tech at the 2012 NAIA National Track & Field Championship as the duo competed in the marathon early this morning.  Four Oregon Tech athletes competed at the national meet that began on Thursday and closed out today.

In the field of 52 runners Minor placed 36th, while Garlitz was unable to finish the long grueling race.  Minor, in his first try at the marathon at nationals crossed in 3:01:41.01.  Daniel Tubie of Park University took the title in 2:24:56.00, followed by teammate Thomas Chelulei in 2:30:30.8

On Thursday Joelle Swanson earned NAIA All-American status with an 8th place finish in the javelin, while Kassi Conditt placed 12th in the shot put on Friday.
