Five Basin Athletes to Compete at Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech head cross country and track & field coach Jack Kegg announced today that five Klamath Basin seniors have signed national letters of intent to join the Owls program beginning this fall.

Paul Adams and Garrison Iams will compete in both cross country and track & field, while Collin Bocchi, Morgan Crebbin and Trevor Garrard has signed to compete in track & field.

Impressive in both track and cross country, Adams, from Mazama High School, ran a school-record 3:58.97 in the 1500 meter race taking second place at the 4A meet in Eugene recently , while also taking runner-up accolades in the 3000 meters, timing in at 8:47.33.  Adams’ best time in the 5K, the cross country event, is 15:35.    

“Paul was one of the quality runners in the state this season and it will not take him long to be the same in the Cascade Collegiate Conference,” commented Kegg.

Iams competed at Henley High School where the senior ran a 4:05.77 in the 1500 meter race and 9:04.12 in the 3000 meters.  Iams’ best time in the 5K is 16:16, with the distance moving to 8K at the collegiate level.

“Garrison should establish himself as a quality runner for Tech,” said Kegg. “He is one of the better distance runners in a talented pool of athletes in the Basin.

Garrard will come to Oregon Tech via Mazama High School where the senior captured third place in the 400 meter race at the 4A meet at Hayward Field in Eugene.  Garrard clocked in at 50.54, while also running a 23.48 in the 200 meter dash and 6-2 in the high jump.

Kegg on Garrard. “Trevor brings great talent and intellect, along with raw determination, to a program with a great tradition of Multi events athletes.”

Bocchi, of Klamath Union High School, will compete for the Owls next spring, where the Pelican reached out to 170-8 in the javelin recently.  “Collin will give our program conference points in a new area for the men, the javelin.” Said Kegg.

Morgan Crebbin competed in the sprints for KUHS, where the senior ran a 51.23 second 400 meter race and 23.14 seconds in the 200 meter dash for the Pelicans.

“Morgan is another of the quality athletes from the Basin,” said Kegg, continuing, “He will bring leadership and solid talent to our growing program.”
