Oregon Tech Track & Field adds Three, Former KU Standout Choukalos
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Head coach Jack Kegg announced recently the signing of three athletes to the Oregon Tech track & field program beginning spring 2013. New signees include Brittni Rogers (Albany, Ore.), Josh Braunschweig (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and Katey Choukalos (Klamath Falls, Ore.).
Choukalos, a transfer from Division I University of Nevada-Reno, competed at Klamath Union High School before spending three seasons at UNR. Choukalos will compete in the 100 meter dash where the incoming senior posted a 12.84 second time. In both the long jump and high jump event Choukalos recorded marks of 18-2 and 5-5 respectively. At KUHS Choukalos was the 2009 Class 5A girls long jump state champion, making the transition into the multi-events at UNR where she scored 4,044 points in the heptathlon to place 12th at the Western Athletic Conference championships during her freshman year.
“Katey is one of the most talented athletes in the program and we cannot wait to see this force back in the Klamath Basin ready for action.” Said Coach Kegg.
Rogers, a recent graduate at South Albany High School, runs a 45.91in the 300 meter hurdles and 15.57 in the 100 meter hurdles.
“Brittni brings true untapped talent to our program and will be a force to watch over the next four years.” Mentioned Kegg.
Braunschweig competed at Cheyenne Central High School where the incoming freshman is set to compete in the sprints. Braunschweig clocks in at 23.02 in the 200 meter dash and 50.88 in the 400 meter event.
“Josh brings a winning attitude to the mild climate of Klamath Falls.” Kegg said. “He will be a key factor in the improvement of the sprint group.”
