KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech head baseball coach Matt Miles announced recently that Brent Hegdahl of Ashland, Ore. will join the Owls for the 2013 season.
Hegdahl, a three-year starter at third base for Ashland High School, was a two-time first-team all-conference selection earning HM All-State honors as a junior and First-Team All-State accolades this season. The 6-1 infielder was chosen the 2012 conference Player of the Year after posting a .500 batting average and .917 slugging percentage for the Grizzlies. Hegdahl recorded 12 doubles, three triples and four homeruns, including a .630 on base percentage this past season. In his tenure Hegdahl helped the Grizzlies to quarterfinal and semifinal appearances, along with a 5A State Title while at Ashland High.
In 2010 Hegdahl led the Ashland American Legion A team to a State and Regional championship, while also helping the Medford Mustang American Legion squad to a runner-up showing in the state championships in 2011.
“Brent is a reliable corner infielder with good power at the plate who I expect to be an immediate impact player for us next season,” said Miles. “He is a guy who will be exciting to watch over the next four years.”
Brent is the son of Darrell and Penny Hegdahl and plans on majoring in psychology at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
