Women’s Golf Signs Three for Inaugural Season

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech golf Coach Jeff Corkill announced this week the signing of
three women to the 2013-14 golf team when the Owls kick-off the
inaugural 2013-14 golf season in September. The freshman trio includes
Kara Cope (La Pine, Ore.), Stacee Halvorsen (Ione, Ore.) and Lexi
Branon (Hollister, Calif.).
Branon, a Team Captain at San Benito High School, competed in two California State tournaments finishing as a TCAL and CCS qualifier.
Lexi is the daughter of Chris and Chris Branon and will major in medical imaging at Oregon Tech this fall.
Halvorsen, a four-sport athlete at Ione Community, competed in volleyball, golf, track and basketball. Halvorsen most recently placed in the top-30 at the OSAA championships, competing in the state championship tournament in both 2011 and 2012. In volleyball Halvorsen helped lead the Cardinals to an Oregon State Championship in 2011 and was named a second-team all-conference player in both volleyball and basketball in her senior seasons. Halvorsen also competed in the OSAA track and field championships in 2010 and 2011.
Stacee is the daughter of Joe and Linda Halvorsen and will major in medical imaging beginning this fall.
Cope, a three-year varsity player for the Hawks, competed in two OSAA tournaments for LHS earning the Most Improved award after a successful season.
Kara is the daughter of Richard and Kimberly Cope and will major in medical imaging at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
Oregon Tech, in its first season as a golf program, open’s up the fall schedule at the Running Y on September 15-17. Saturday is a practice round with competition beginning at 8 a.m. on both Sunday, September 16th and Monday, September 17th.
