Oregon Tech Swept by Warriors

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Tech fell to 2-13 in conference play, as Corban snapped its nine-match losing streak with a three-set sweep over the Owls, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-22). The Owls fall to 10-17 overall with the loss.
The opening set would see Oregon Tech jump out to a quick 2-0 lead before Corban used a 12-2 run, resulting in a 12-4 lead. The Warriors would maintain the lead, 20-13, before Oregon Tech used its second and final timeout of the set. Following the break in action, Oregon Tech began to mount a comeback pulling within three points, 23-20, thanks to a 7-3 run that was capped by a hitting error by Corban. CU, however would close out Set #1 with the 25-21 victory.
Set #2 would see Corban use a 5-2 run to break a 4-4 tie resulting in a 9-6 lead for the home team. The Owls trailed just 10-11 before Corban used a 9-3 run to pull ahead 20-13. Tech would score the next three points to trail by just four, 20-16, but Corban never let it get closer, using a 3-0 run to pull ahead by a 23-16 score on the way to a 25-19 victory.
Oregon Tech opened the third set with an early lead, but the host Warriors got three kills in four tries and move up 5-2. Keeping things close, the Owls broke a 12-12 tie with a 3-0 run to move up 15-12. Oregon Tech, however, couldn’t maintain a lead only to see CU storm back to take a four-point lead, 23-19, thanks to an 11-4 run. Oregon Tech would pull within two points, 24-22, only to have the Warriors close out the set and match with a 25-22 victory.
Oregon Tech was led offensively by Kristen Walters with 10 kills, while Young and Saltenberger added nine and six kills, respectively. The setting duo of Kayleigh Whelchel and Megan Holland would combine to hand out 31 assists with Whelchel recording a team-high 18 to go along with a match-high 24-dig performance by Marie Baumann.
