Six Owls Earn All-Conference Postseason Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Six Oregon Tech athletes earned postseason honors, led by four from the women’s soccer team, in the 2012 fall sports of volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer, the league office announced this past weekend.
First-team all-conference honors went to Rebekah Matteri (Arcata, Calif.) and Rebekah Nisbet (Medford, Ore.), while Hayley Smith (Elko, Nev.) was a second-team selection, with freshman defender Bailey Tehan (Eureka, Calif.) earning honorable mention accolades in women’s soccer.

Matteri, a sophomore goal keeper, ranked 1st in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in saves/game (6.62), saves (86) and save percentage (.819). Matteri ranked 8th in the CCC in goals against (1.55). Nisbet, a junior midfielder, ranked 3rd in the CCC in shots/game (3.87), 4th in points/game (1.20), 5th in goals (7) and 7th in assists (4). Smith, a junior midfielder, ranked in the CCC’s top-10 in shots/game 2.93 and goals (5).
Dustin Hirata (Portland, Ore.), a midfielder on the men’s soccer squad, finished out the year with a goal and assist earning CCC honorable mention accolades.
In volleyball libero Marie Baumann also earned an honorable mention nod where the junior ranked in the top 5 in the CCC in digs (583) and digs/set (5.2). In the NAIA statistical rankings Baumann was 31st in the country in digs/set and 46th overall in digs.
