Birch, a 5-7 infielder, was a three-time Far West all-league player at Douglas High School, while earning the 2013 Far West MVP award. Birch was named First-Team All-State this season, while also earning Second-Team All-State honors in both 2011 and 2012. Birch batted .577 her sophomore year and .510 as a junior. In those two seasons combined, Birch drove in 29 runs, including 11 homeruns for the Trojans. In her senior season at DHS Birch batted .609 with a .922 slugging percentage to go with 10 homeruns and 43 RBI. Birch was named DHS Female Athlete of the Year and competed at the Oregon All-Star game played at Oregon State University.
“Sadie is a good fielding infielder with a very strong arm,” said Stewart. “At the plate, Sadie will give our program another player that can hit for both average and power.”
Birch is the daughter of Mike and Stacey Birch and plans to major in civil engineering at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
