11.16.2009 - Tech's Christensen Named to 2009 Volleyball All-Conference First-Team

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon Tech junior outside hitter Megan Christensen (Klamath Falls, Ore.) was named to the all-conference first-team, the league office announced on Monday. Christensen was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. Christensen led the Cascade Conference with 303 kills in 2009, averaging 3.33 kills/set on the season. Christensen also ranked second on the team in digs/set (2.64) and in service aces with 21.

Senior middle hitter Grace Deboodt of Eastern Oregon and junior outside hitter Naomi Reimer have been voted the CCC's Co-Players of the Year. The College of Idaho's Liz Mendiola, along with Southern Oregon's Josh Rohlfing, who each guided the respective teams to a share of the CCC's regular-season volleyball title, were named Co-Coaches of the Year by their peers.

Deboodt (Prineville, Ore.), was named to her third-straight all-conference first-team and led the Mountaineers to their second-straight post-season appearance. A junior outside hitter from Killarney, Manitoba, Reimer was selected to her second consecutive All-CCC first-team and helped the Yotes to their fourth-straight regular-season conference title.

The College of Idaho's Whitney Owen was named the CCC's Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year. Owen, a junior from Caldwell, Idaho, averaged 5.41 digs per set during the regular season. Outside hitter Chelsea Hartman of Southern Oregon, a junior from Lebanon, Ore., was voted the league's Newcomer of the Year.

11.07.2009 - Owls Dominate in Final Match of Season

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Oregon Tech volleyball team concluded the 2009 season with a decisive sweep over Evergreen State College 25-15, 25-23, 25-17 Saturday night.

Megan Christensen finished an outstanding season with a double-double effort, coming up with 13 kills and 11 digs.  Mikayla Morgan nearly reached a double-double, tallying 13 digs and nine kills to go with a team-high three block assists.  Christine Bansen followed with eight kills, while Sarah Svedin added 18 assists and three aces to her season totals.

The season ending win improved Oregon Tech to 7-19 overall and 6-12 in the conference standings.
