Oregon Tech Opens 2013 Campaign with Sweep over Simpson University
REDDING, Calif. – Oregon Tech pounded out 36 hits in Saturday’s non-conference double header at Simpson University, as the Owls opened up the 2013 baseball campaign with a 13-5, 13-2 sweep over the Red Hawks in Redding.

The Owls never trailed in either game going up 3-0 in game 1 and using a pair of four-run innings in the sixth and seventh innings to solidify the victory. In game 2 Tech jumped out to a 13-0 start before SU tacked on a pair of runs in the eighth inning for the final margin, 13-2.
In game 1 Talon Sisley went five innings to earn the win for the Owls, allowing five hits and one run. Tyler Conklin drove in three runs on three hits, while Tyson Dahl and Jared Nelson recorded two RBI in the win. Dahl was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a homerun in the opening game.
BJ Wilson picked up the win on the mound for the Owls in game 2. Wilson went six innings allowing just three hits and striking out four to move to 1-0 on the season. Ryan Hayden finished 4-for-5 at the plate and Spencer Reed 3-for-5 with Conklin adding two more hits in the finale. Conklin tallied four RBI, Reed three with Hayden driving in a pair for the Owls.
The Owls take a 2-0 record to California beginning with a single nine inning game at Vanguard University on February 7th in Costa Mesa, Calif. and ending with three games at Cal State East Bay in Oakland on February 9th and 10th.
