Oregon Tech Women’s Track & Field signs five to National Letters of Intent

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech Track & Field Head Coach Jack Kegg has announced the signing of five student-athletes to Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2014 season.

Next year’s class includes four Oregon natives and one from the Evergreen State with three competing in the jumping events, one in sprints along with a distance specialist.

Kara Wood (Coos Bay, Ore.), the lone sprinter, secured 3^rd place in the 100 meter hurdles at the Oregon State championships a year ago. The Marshfield High School senior qualified nationally in 2012.

Samantha Lindauer (Vernonia, Ore.) will compete in both cross country and track for the Owls. Competing at Vernonia High School, in her first season of cross country this fall, placed 19^th at the 1A-3A State Championships.

Mary Roy (Mt. Vernon, Ore.), Marissa Brainard (Battle Ground, Wash.) and Katie Ingram (Malin, Ore.) will compete in jumping events for Tech next spring. Ingram, the lone Klamath Basin local, recorded a 5^th place showing at last year’s Oregon 2A meet in the pole vault competition. Brainard, a transfer from Clark College, will add to Tech’s depth in three jumping events – long jump, triple jump and high jumps, while Roy took home a 5^th place at last year’s Oregon 3A State Championship in the triple jump.

Oregon Tech has now signed 11 student-athletes to their track and field and/or cross country programs in just the past two weeks.
