Hustlin’ Owls Fall to Simpson in 9th

(Redding, Calif.) –The Red Hawks out scored Oregon Tech 5-1 in the final 3 innings Sunday afternoon, including the game winner in the bottom of the 9th to win their first game of the season 9-8 in a non-conference match up. Simpson improves to 1-11 with the win while Oregon Tech slips to 5-6 with the loss.
Tech took an early 2-0 lead the 1st inning then added a run in the 2nd to lead 3-0 headed to the bottom of the 4th inning. That’s when Simpson put together 4-hits highlighted by a Tyler Provost double to tie the game at 3.
The Red Hawks would then take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the 5th on a Kris Warner double followed by a Richard Asdourian single to lead 4-3.
Oregon Tech would come firing back to take the lead back in the top of the 4th scoring 4-runs on 4-hits, aided by two Simpson errors. The highlight of the inning was an Ethan Schlecht 2-run double the put the hooter up 7-4.
Simpson would answer with 4-runs of their own in the bottom of 7th to take the lead 8-7.
Tech would tie the game at 8-8 in the top of the 8th without a hit, taking advantage of a walk, a pass ball and an error.
Simpson won the game in the bottom of the 9th scoring the winning run on 2 singles and a wild pitch.
Dylan Rogers continued his hot hitting leading the Oregon Tech offense with 4-hits in the game.
Richard Asdourian led the Red Hawks offense attack with 3-hits.
Garrett Greenshaw picked up the win for Simpson with Justin Dibble getting hit with the loss for Tech.
Oregon Tech will travel to George Fox University next Friday Afternoon at 2:00 pm in Newberg, Oregon.
