William Jessup Sweeps Owls

(Rocklin, Calif.) – For the second and third time this season William Jessup University beat the Lady Owls of Oregon Tech sweeping a double header 8-0 and 11-4. William Jessup improves to 13-7 with the wins. Oregon Tech slips to 14-3 on the season with all three losses to William Jessup.

In game 1, William Jessup scored two runs in the 2nd inning on four singles to lead 2-0.

Oregon Tech could not muster any offense in the entire game, only picking up two Alyssa Davis singles for the entire game and never getting a base runner past first.

The Warriors would add 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to end the game 8-0 on the mercy rule. In the inning, William Jessup took advantage of 4 hits and three Oregon Tech errors.

For William Jessup Emily Buhrkuhl pitched all 6-innings giving up just the 2-hits, walking no-one while striking out 2 as she improved to 7-3 on the season.

For OIT, Taylor Schmidt picked up her first loss of the year giving up 10 hits, 8 runs (3 earned), walking 4, and striking out 2 to fall to 8-1 on the season.

In game 2, Oregon Tech took an early 4-1 lead but the Warriors put up a 9-run 5th inning to win going away 11-4.

Sara Coates led the Owls offensive attack with 2-hits including a double.

Oregon Tech’s Rylee Carlton was pegged with the loss giving up 6-runs on 8-hits in 5 2/3 inning.

Oregon Tech will try to bounce back on Saturday at they take on Menlo College in Atherton, California with a double-header scheduled for 11:00 am.
