Tech Trio Named Player of the Week

(LA GRANDE, Ore.) – Oregon Tech Softball Players Taylor Schmidt and Jess Plummer join Track and Field’s Joelle Swanson being named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of March 4-10 as announced by the Conference today.
Swanson, a 6-0 sophomore from Grants Pass, Ore., placed first in the javelin at the Lane CC preview. Swanson hit the NAIA B mark of 40.44 and just missed the NAIA auto standard by .56.
Plummer, a 5-7 senior from Eugene Ore., was a combined 5 for 12 with seven runs scored. Plummer’s weekend included two homeruns, one of which was a grand slam, against EOU. She now has 9 homers on the season and a .744 hitting percentage.
Schmidt, a 5-9 senior from Medford Ore., picked up two wins and a save in three appearances on the mound for the Owls. Schmidt is now 11-1 on the season with an ERA of 1.97, leading Oregon Tech to a (20-5, 4-0 CCC) start. This is the second week in row Schmidt has been named CCC Pitcher of the Week.
Oregon Tech’s Paul Adams from Track and Field and Dylan Rodgers from OIT Baseball were named Honorable mentions.
