Oregon Tech Falls in Conference Opener
EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian held Oregon Tech to a -.065 hitting percentage in
the opening set of Cascade Conference play and never allowed the Owls a
chance in the next two sets, as Tech dropped tonight’s conference
opening match to the Beacons 3-0, (25-16, 25-19, 25-16).
Oregon Tech fell to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in CCC action and will next travel to Corban University on Saturday to try and even their conference mark.
Marlee Smith recorded a double-double, as the sophomore middle hitter notched a team-high eight kills and 11 digs. Marie Baumann followed with 10 digs with setters Megan Holland and Kayleigh Whelchel each finishing with 11 assists.
NCU defeated Tech with a balanced attack with Chandler Gabrio leading the way with nine kills followed by Janel Fetters with eight. Maren Mansfield and Taylor Richardson added seven kills and six kills respectively. Henley High graduate, Cori Wallace, totaled 33 assists, three kills, four digs and a pair of aces to help NCU to the victory.
