Oregon Tech Holds Off Corban
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech jumped up on Corban University 13-2 and next used a 15-1 run at the midway point of the opening half to take control, but a late Corban rally put a scare in the home team as the Owls earned a 79-75 win over the Warriors tonight at Danny Miles Court.

Tech, in the last regular-season and home game of the season, moves to 7-11 in the final Cascade Conference standings and is 16-14 overall with the win. The Owls earned the seven-seed and will travel to second-seed Eastern Oregon University in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, February 20th in La Grande with the tip-off set for 7:00 PM.
Corban fell to 5-13 in CCC play and 9-18 on the year and will visit top-seeded Warner Pacific College in the opening round of the CCC Tournament.
Kyle Waits opened the game with a layup on a David Clarke assist and next capped a 13-2 run on a 3-pointer as the Owls led by the same score five minutes in.
Corban managed to chip away and at the midway point trailed just 17-13.
A Clarke trey jump started a Tech 15-1 run as the home team led 32-14 with 7:05 on the clock. CU got to within 11 points nearing the half, but Waits regained possession of a loose ball and his triple from the corner as time expired in the opening period gave the Owls a 44-30 advantage at the half.
Oregon Tech led by as many as 16 points on four occasions in the second half with the Warriors eventually cutting their deficit to single digits with 2:02 remaining. Tech got the game back to a 10 point lead with 1:49 on the clock only to see CU outscore the Owls 10-3 and with under 10 seconds made it a one possession game at 78-75.
Austen Flint was able to hit 1-of-2 from the charity stipe to make it a four point Tech advantage and after CU missed a 3-point attempt as time expired won by a 79-75 score.
Oregon Tech was led by a career-high 32 point effort from Kyle Waits. Waits would grab 11 rebounds for the games only double-double. Waits finished 12-of-17 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers and 6-of- 8 effort at the charity stripe. David Clarke, playing in his final home game in an Owl uniform, finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Alex Zerbach finished with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with Jordan Kiely adding 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. It was the final game at Danny Miles Court for Zerbach and Kiely as well.
Corban was led by Marcus Butler with 19 points on an 8-of-12 effort from the floor. Dustin Moore followed with 17 points with Kent Foster added 15 in the loss for CU. Jacob Kopra grabbed 8 rebounds and Josiah Sebens added 7 boards.
