Oregon Tech Hosts Northwest Christian in Dual Meet

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Northwest Christian finished 1-5 in the women’s 5K, while the Owl men went 2,3,5,6,10 to edge the Beacons in the 8K race 26-to-29, as the Oregon Tech cross country team hosted NCU in a dual meet today at the Steen Sports Park.

Scott Minor finished 2nd overall and Jeff Pelarde 3rd to lead the Tech men’s team over NCU by just three points.  Minor finished the 8K course in 26:59.5 with NCU’s Nick Lopez taking top honors with a time of 26:51.1.  Pelarde clocked in at 27:07.8

Rounding out the scoring for the Owls was Kirby Garlitz (27:35.9-5th), Paul Adams (27:37.2-6th) and James Hull (29:03.1-10th).

Outside of Lopez’s first-place finish was a fourth-place showing from NCU’s Crosby Green with a time of 27:25.5.  Alek Angeli, Taylor Kraal and Andre Lightsey Walker tallied the final points for the Beacons finishing 7-8-9 overall.

Ashley Baldovino, finishing 7th overall, led the Tech women with a time of 21:29.40, followed by teammate Elissa Brouillard in 21:44.2.  Kelly Coash clocked in at 21:46.5 and Heidi Gunderson 24:25.4 to round out the scoring for the Owls.  Running unattached for the Owls was Sara Howard, taking 2nd overall, finishing the course in 20:07.8 and Kayla Parsons with a time of 21:43.6.  No team score was recorded for Oregon Tech as five runners need to place to gain those points.

NCU’s Alley Manley took women’s individual honors cruising through the 5K course in 19:11.6 with Emily Svendsen McLean following in 20:12.3.  Rounding out the Beacons scoring were Sierra Schorer Noll, Ashley Kinney and Allison Duvenez finishing 3-4-5.

Oregon Tech will compete in their third meet of the season when both the Owl men and women travel to Salem on Sept. 29th to compete in the Charles Bowles Invitational at Bush Pasture Park beginning at 9AM.
