EUGENE, Ore. – No. 20 Oregon Tech led by as many as 18 points with 14 minutes to play and held on for a 74-64 win over Northwest Christian University tonight in Cascade Conference action tonight at Morse Event Center in Eugene.
Oregon Tech improved to 20-4 overall, their third straight 20+ win season, and sits at 8-4 in CCC play. NCU is now 6-15 on the season and fell to 2-10 in the conference standings.
Kassi Conditt tied for game-high honors in points with 22, while missing a double-double with nine rebounds. The senior post blocked six shots and added a pair of assists and steals in the win for the Owls. Maria Ramirez notched 17 points and added five steal and three assists. Freshman Ashleigh Vandenbrink scored 16 points, including a 3-for-5 effort from long range.
Hannah Frederick recorded 22 points to lead the Beacon offensive charge, while Chandler Gabrio added nine points in the loss for NCU.
Tech shot 41.5% overall (22-for-53) from the floor, while hitting on 6-of-15 from long range. Neither team shot well from the charity stripe, as the visiting Owls finished 24-of-38 against a 16-of-29 showing from NCU. The Owls held a slim 43-41 advantage at the free throw line.
Oregon Tech will look to improve their lead in the CCC standings when they take on Corban University on Saturday in Salem. Tip-off is set at 5:30 p.m.
