KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Ashleigh Vandenbrink and Karly LeVeque combined for 33 points and No. 23 Oregon Tech used a 19-4 run to end the opening period and raced past rival Southern Oregon University by an 87-54 score tonight in Cascade Conference women’s basketball action.
Oregon Tech improves to 23-5 on the season and 11-5 in CCC play. Southern Oregon falls to 21-7 overall and 10-6 in the conference standings.
Ashleigh Vandenbrink led all scorers with 17 points on 5-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long range. Karly Leveque followed with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Maria Ramirez and Karissa Dixon added 12 and 10 points respectively to round out the double digit scoring for Tech in the win.
For SOU Allison Gida notched 11 points to lead the Raiders. For other players scored six points each.
As a team Oregon Tech connected on 43.5% of their tries (30-for-69) overall, including 10-of-19 from long range. The Owls finished 17-of-26 from the charity stripe.
Southern Oregon was held to just 25.4% overall (15-of-59) and 2-of-18 from the 3-point line. The Raiders made 22 of their 37 free throw attempts and outrebounded the Owls by a 49-43 margin.
Oregon Tech will close out regular season action in Portland this Friday and Saturday versus Concordia University and Warner Pacific College.
