IRVINE, Calif. – Scott Minor led the nineteenth-ranked Oregon Tech men’s cross country team to a fifth place team finish, while Mary Matchett led the Tech women to a sixth place finish Saturday at the Biola Invitational in Irvine, Calif.
Biola University hosted the premier event for National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics west coast programs at Irvine Regional Park. Sixteen women's contingents and 14 men's squads descended upon the park, including seven nationally ranked programs.
The host Eagles took the women's race, earning 32 points, while Cal State San Marcos outpaced the field to earn top team honors on the men’s side.
Scott Minor had a Top-10 finish, placing eighth overall in a race of 111 men’s participants. Minor clocked in at 25:52.8 in the 8K in a race won by San Marcos’ Steven Ing in 25:11.9. Top 25 performers for the Owls included Jack Roberts (26:19.2) 21st overall and a 25 place showing by Mazama High grad Kirby Garlitz (26:33.0).
Mary Matchett finished 34th overall in the 5K race with a time of 19:29.1. Just behind, in 36th place, was teammate Samantha Lindauer clocking in at 19:36.3.
