(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – On a very hot 84 degree fall afternoon, Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Nisbet scored one goal and assisted on two others to help lead the Hustlin Owls to a 5-0 win over Cascade Conference foe Evergreen. Oregon Tech improved to 2-0 in Cascade Conference play with the win over Evergreen at Steen Sports Park on Trevor Derrah Field. Tech improves its season record to 4-3 while the Geoducks slip to 0-6-1 and 0-2 in CCC play.

Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Nisbet put the home team up 1-0 when she took a loose ball and shot a high, arching ball just over the outreached hands of the Geoduck’s keeper from 35 yards out in the 5th minute.

Freshman Rylee Jones then scored her first ever collegiate goal as she took a Haley Smith pass and chipped a shot from 25 yards out over the keeper’s head in the 26th minute, giving Tech a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Evergreen would only get one shot off in the first half and that was off frame as Oregon Tech outshot the Geoduck 19-1.

Hayley Smith then scored 2 goals 5 minutes apart to start the second half giving Oregon Tech a 4-0 lead. The first of those goals came in the 51st minute as Smith took a Nisbet pass and powered a goal in the upper right corner from 18 yards out. Smith then scored in the 54th minute, this time taking a Melanie Johnson pass and scoring from 18 yards out.

Tech’s A.J. Castle then finished off the scoring as she took a Nisbet pass, dribbled around the keeper and chipped in a shot from 15 yards out, giving Tech the 5-0 win.

For the game, Tech outshot Evergreen 31-6 and dominated shots on goal at 15-3.

Oregon Tech sits in first place at 2-0 in the Cascade Conference and will head to Portland, Oregon next Friday for its biggest test of the season so far as they play the Number 1 ranked team in the nation, Concordia University, who is 7-0-2 on the season and 1-0 in CCC play.
