Michael Benedict, President

First, I want to say thank you for voting for me to the position of Non-traditional Student Officer for ASOIT, for the 2012-13 school year. Secondly, whether you know them or not, the officers involved in ASOIT have been working diligently for all students. I say without reservation that you know how to elect the best and I am so thankful for being a part of this group. We will not be getting back some of these individuals next year to ASOIT, that voted to keep students fees down, supported all clubs and programs on campus, and put on great events for every student on campus. I, though, am not looking to move on just yet. I am however, looking to provide the experienced leadership, and continue the work that we started. I am asking again for your vote, this time for President of ASOIT in 2013. Thank you!

Sana Rahmani, President

There are many issues that we face nationally and internationally that has left many including myself feeling helpless to change or improve conditions. I am running to be your elected student body president, because I am not apathetic to the student’s and my community’s concerns. I am hopeful that I can serve the students and Oregon Tech, because of my passion, experience, courage, and commitment to integrity. I promise to only utilize the ASOIT budget to support staff and interns in the effort to apply for grants, research, and proposals. I cannot promise every initiative will be successful, but I can promise there will be easily accessible transparency of the entire staff. I have outlined more specifics my plans, promises, proposals, and relevant experience on my website at sanarahmani.org. My hope is that ASOIT can provide an improvement in the student culture through accountability, efficiency and being proactive.

Spencer Jones, Vice President

I am running for the position of Vice President of Student Government to support the goals of a new administration. The ability to work in a support role to the issues and challenges facing the student body is the thing I most enjoy about ASOIT, as V.P. I will be able to continue this work, supported with the knowledge and experience gained from this year as the Government affairs officer. It would be my honor to return to ASOIT in the Fall, I look forward to earning you vote. Thank you

Kalissa Mauch, Vice President

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Oregon Tech is more than a university; it is a workshop, a stage, a laboratory, and an adventure. Oregon Tech dares students to reach for the unimaginable and in this culture I have grown fearless of failure. It is in these halls that wanderers discover life purpose every day. Here, I have accomplished that which I had never dreamt possible. Here, I have failed brilliantly and have been revived. Now, with this opportunity to serve as an ASOIT member I will give back to the campus and student community. As a student leader I will challenge fellow students to reach eagerly, without fear, for the Oregon Tech experience socially, culturally, physically and educationally in all that we do.

Autumn Daley, Administrative Officer

I am a 21 year old female student. I was raised in Klamath Falls and took my first class at OIT when I was in high school. I started attending OIT full time in 2010 and joined the OHSU nursing program on our campus in 2011. I have spent a lot of my life on this campus and have a vested interest in OIT. As an OIT/OHSU student I have a unique perspective on what happens at this college. I would love to see students in outside majors, like nursing, become more integrated, to the benefit of everyone. I have spent plenty of energy complaining about parts of the college experience that felt completely out of my control. I would like to take this opportunity to empower myself and others by making the logistics of attending OIT more approachable and open up the possibility for positive student led changes.

Dustin Howell, Finance Officer

Hi my name is Dustin Howell and I am running for ASOIT Finance officer position. ASOIT is a place where students can use their education to better help their fellow students thought events and activities. I currently have an Associate’s degree in accounting and I am a business management major here at Oregon Tech with a focus in Marketing. I believe that I have the skills necessary to hold this position and do a great job for the Oregon Tech Students. As the current president for the business club I see that being involved in campus activities and club is important for the educational process. This is why I want to serve as your ASOIT Finance Officer.

Greg Robinson, Governmental Affairs Officer

As Governmental Affairs Officer, I can promise that I will fulfill all duties and responsibilities of this office. I will ensure that the constitution of ASOIT and all bylaws are fairly interpreted and applied within the scope of their purpose. I can assure each person that I will uphold this position with integrity, transparency, and the determination to provide the student body with a government that upholds its constitution. Through Phi Delta Theta, I have gained experience in interpreting bylaws, parliamentary procedure, and participating in weekly meetings for the past four years. I believe this experience has well prepared me for this position within ASOIT. If you feel that I would serve as an excellent Governmental Affairs Officer, then I encourage you to please vote for me!

Terry Thompson, Governmental Affairs Officer

I, Terry Thompson, am announcing my candidacy for the position of Government Affairs Officer. I feel qualified to undertake this position being an employee of the United States government. I served in the United States Marine Corps. from July, 1987 to July, 1991 and in the Oregon Army National Guard from October, 2007 to the present date.

I am running for this position mainly for the following reasons. The first, I feel the desire to assist others in their goals, a trait that was developed and enhanced during my time in the military. There is simply no greater reward than knowing I’ve made a difference in someone else’s life. Secondly, I would hope to make a difference in communications between the students and the University. Finally, I would hope to make a contribution to professionalism that makes OIT such a great place to further one’s education. I hope to be given the opportunity to make a difference.

Brenda Odesha, Non-Traditional Officer

Greetings fellow students! My name is Brenda Odesha and I am excited to be running for the position of Non-Traditional/Veteran’s Officer.

My goal is to increase awareness for veterans and non-traditional students at Oregon Tech by addressing your unique needs. I will bring your voice straight to the source that matters!

In my past two years’ experience at Klamath Community College, I worked closely with students at orientation, helped with campus events and while serving as executive secretary on ASKCC, brought student’s concerns and barriers to ASKCC and administration each time the need arose.

I PROMISE that if elected, I will facilitate communication through forums and surveys specifically for the purpose of promoting and addressing veteran and non-traditional student needs. I will utilize my previous experience and will be committed not only ASOIT but to YOU!

Be sure to place your "Best Bet on Brenda!"

Michael Peterson, Non-Traditional Officer

I know how hard it is to go back to school. I had a ten year gap between high school and going to college. In that time I spent five years in the Navy, got married, had two children, worked several jobs and moved across the country and back again. It is difficult to make your schedule fit with the rest of your life so that the children are picked up from school on time every day and still find time to get all the homework and studying done. As the Non-traditional/Veterans Officer, I will help other students like myself and create an environment that is friendly and open to students from all walks of life. It's never too late to go back to school because for some of us the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” has taken more time to answer.

Terry Thompson, Non-Traditional Officer

I, Terry Thompson, am announcing my candidacy for the position of Veteran/Non-Traditional Officer. At the age of 44, I qualify as non-traditional student. As a veteran of Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn, I qualify as a veteran.

I am running for this position for three reasons. The first is a desire to serve others, a trait that was developed and enhanced during my 12 years of service in the military. There is simply no greater reward than knowing I’ve made a difference in someone else’s life. Secondly, I would hope to impart to others this culture of service—looking out for the greater good of students attending Oregon Tech. Finally, I would hope to enhance both the image and personal pride of veteran’s and non-traditional students at OIT. I believe that together, veteran students can be a rich resource both academically and interpersonally.

I hope to be given the opportunity to make a difference.
