Time Tours
1pm Medical Imaging Technology Tour

Join us on a tour of the state-of-the-art imaging labs in the Dow Center for Health Professions. This is an opportunity to take a close-up look at the five different imagining programs, as well as our Picture Archiving lab, CT/MRI simulators and patient care labs. You won’t want to miss it! Tour limited to 20 participants. Presented by: Professor Don McDonnell and Professor Jenny Kellstrom.

Oregon Renewable Energy Center Tour

The Oregon Renewable Energy Center is the public face of Oregon Tech in renewable energy. Although not directly involved in curriculum delivery, OREC supports OIT students and faculty projects in renewable energy, energy conservation, and sustainability. In addition, OREC conducts its own projects that support businesses and public agencies throughout the state. This tour, led by students, will visit the OREC lab to view and learn about our student projects, such as an ethanol plant, a biodiesel plant, an electric dragster and a fuel cell car. The very involved and knowledgeable students will also talk about their OIT experience and what that experience has prepared them for. Tour limited to 20 participants. Presented by: Current Oregon Tech Students

Nursing Tour

View state of the art simulation (SIM) laboratory and two clinical labs. The SIM lab uses high tech manikins across the life span including an infant, a birthing female, a 6 month old, 5 year old and adult. All of these simulators are controlled via computer and allow the students opportunity to perform skills, procedures and make critical clinical decisions in a simulated setting to prepare them for the “real world”. Tour limited to 20 participants. Presented by: Professor Terry Ross

2pm “Behind the Scenes of OIT” Tour

Ever wonder what it takes to keep the campus infrastructure going? Lots of interrelated systems have to be monitored and maintained. Here is your chance to get a glimpse into that world. Led by Facilities Services Director, Dave Ebsen, you will visit places that few ever venture to. Take a look behind the scenes in this tour of OIT’s extensive physical plant. Tour limited to 12 participants. Presented by: Facilities Director David Ebsen

Respiratory Care Simulation Lab Tour

Learn about some of the latest equipment and skills used for treating premature and distressed babies. Respiratory Therapists are integral participants in neonatal resuscitation, stabilization and transport. The Department of Respiratory Care has recently acquired a transport incubator with ventilator, ECG monitor and suction. The tour of the respiratory care laboratories will briefly demonstrate neonatal resuscitation, neonatal mechanical ventilation and the neonatal transporter. Tour limited to 20 participants. Presented by: Professor Jeff Pardy

3pm Geo-thermal Power Plant Tour

OIT was relocated to its present location in the early 60’s due to the fact of the geothermal resource. At the previous location, OIT was paying $100,000 to heat the campus. OIT has been using the geothermal resource since its relocation and is the only campus in the world to receive all of its heating needs with a geothermal resource under its campus. In 2010, OIT completed the installation of a 280kW geothermal power plant and it provides about 10% of our electrical load. OIT is in the development state for a larger power plant and will eventually provide about 60% of our electrical load. During this tour, you will be provided an opportunity to see OIT’s geothermal power plant and a portion of the heating system. The tour, coordinated by Toni Boyd, OIT’s Geo-Heat Center Senior Engineer, will include several selected Renewable Energy Engineering students that work in the Geo-Heat Center. Tour limited to 20 participants.   Tour limited to 20 participants.  Non-strenuous, but somewhat hilly walking involved. Presented by: Current Oregon Tech Students
