About Career Services:

Students Link                 Employers Link

Career Services supports current students in the selection and achievement of their career goals. Our services include: individual career advising and assessment; workshops and classroom presentations on resume writing, job interviewing, job search and applying to graduate school; on-campus employer recruitment, whereby companies and government agencies interview students for career and internship opportunities; career fairs, which bring employers and students together on campus to discuss career opportunities informally; career resource materials and job listings; and a resume referral service, which supports student applications for employment and graduate school. Our services are also available to Oregon Tech alumni for life.

In addition, Career Services coordinates the Student Employment Service, which provides part-time employment for students both on and off campus with local employers. Positions are available through the College Work Study program or through regular employment.

Oregon Tech Career Services abides by the principles of ethical conduct set forth by NACE and expects employers who use its services to adhere to EEO guidelines and offer employment without regard to race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.

National Starting Salaries, 2012:

Every year, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) publishes the average starting salaries for a wide variety of industries. With the start of Spring Term, NACE has updated their salary averages.

The chart on the right shows these averages.

While some industries that Oregon Tech prepares students for (such as Renewable Energy, MIT, etc.) are not represented on this chart, a majority of the programs Oregon Tech offers are.

Tools such as the one provided by NACE, and websites such as CBSalary.com provide students and job seekers a

chance to match their talents on a national scale, so that they can have an idea of what their personal brand may be worth when job searching.

Remember: these are national averages. Factors such as experience, education, and location of a job all dictate the salary for that position. For example, careers in cities with higher average costs of living may offer higher salaries to help offset the cost of living.
