2013 Student Awards
STUDENT AWARD NOMINATIONS begin March 1, 2013
Nominations are due by 5:00 pm on April 15, 2013
Oregon Tech students deserve recognition for their achievements, dedication, and service! Yet each year only few receive student award nominations.
Any Faculty, Administrator, Staff, or Student may make student award nominations. You may nominate multiple students for the same award or one student for several, and a student may nominate him or herself.
How to Nominate a Student
- Meet with the student to inform him/her of your desire to complete a Student Award Nomination.
- Write a letter of nomination and indicate for which Student Award. Clearly state how the student meets the criteria for the particular award. Criteria for each award are available to the right. Nomination is only considered for that specific award and not for others; however, you may nominate a student for more than one award with a separate Student Award Nomination letter. Submit this letter by 5:00 pm on April 15, 2013 to Student Affairs: CU 217 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Encourage the student to receive 1-3 additional letters of recommendation of the nomination from other faculty members, advisors, administrators, students, etc. Submit these letters by 5:00 pm on April 15, 2013 to Student Affairs: CU 217 or email@example.com.
- Direct the student to complete the Student Biography by 5:00 pm on April 15, 2013. This form is submitted electronically through the link above.
Letter of Nomination/Letter of Recommendation
Write a letter of nomination/recommendation to indicate for which Student Award. Clearly state how the student meets the criteria for the particular award and why you recommend the person you are writing about. Include a paragraph or sentence explaining how you know the person you are writing about and the nature of your relationship with them. Also include an evaluation of the person's skills and accomplishments.
Nomination Letters and Student Biography must be submitted by 5:00 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013. The Commission will only consider a complete packet; late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.
The Student Awards Commission will meet in closed sessions to review the merits of each candidate. If your student was nominated for the Hiram M. Hunt Science or Student Achievement Award, please inform him/her the possibility of being asked to present to the Student Awards Commission.
The awards will be presented at the Student & Alumni Awards dinner Friday, June 14, 2013. All student nominees and award winners are invited to this event. If your nominee is an award recipient, you (or someone from your department) will be asked to briefly introduce the student to accept the award.
