Portland Students
Student Health Insurance: $92.00/term
All full-time students enrolled in 6 or more ON-CAMPUS credit hours for Fall, Winter, & Spring terms at Oregon Tech are automatically assessed a Basic Student Health Insurance fee each term ($5,000 benefit plan). Regardless of other insurance coverage, full-time students may not waive this fee. This insurance provides very basic coverage.
You will receive an insurance card in approximately 8 weeks from the start of Fall term to the address that you have on file with Oregon Tech. Let the person who is doing your billing (e.g., medical office, partner, or yourself) know that you have this insurance. (If you have other insurance, the basic student health insurance plan will be billed as your primary insurance for the first $250.) Students taking 6 or more on-campus credits and wishing to purchase additional coverage may do so.
Another Insurance Option
If you are taking less than 6 credits with Oregon Tech and wish to have insurance coverage you now have the option to purchase the Basic Insurance. You MUST have at least 1 on campus class with Oregon Tech to qualify. For more information, please contact Cindy Childers at 541.885.1807.
PSU Student Health Center Option
If you are taking 5 or more credits and wish to have the PSU insurance coverage you must go to PSU and pay their Student Health Fee(please see information below for instructions on how to do this). They use the same insurance carrier that Oregon Tech uses. Their Student Health Fee AND Basic Health Insurance are combined into one fee.
To obtain the PSU Student Health Services:
- Present your Oregon Tech student ID card to the PSU Student Health and Counseling Center located at 1880 SW 6th Avenue (corner of SW 6th and Hall Street).
- The SHAC receptionist will record your name and Oregon Tech student ID number for Oregon Tech records.
- The receptionist will give the Oregon Tech student a form letter to be taken to the Cashiers Office in Neuberger Hall.
- If the Oregon Tech student needs a PSU account it will be created at the Cashier's Office
- The PSU Student Health Fee for the 2011-12 year is $190 per term. This gives students access to SHAC's health, mental health, and reduced cost dental care. Additionally,

- This is a per term policy. Students need to complete ALL steps each term.
