Polysomnographic Technology Certificate and Associate Degree Programs
About our program
Registered sleep technologists are in high demand across the country and can command great starting salaries. Sleep disorders clinics can be found in hospitals and as stand-alone facilities. With the Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Management, registered technologists will have the opportunity to rapidly rise to a managerial position in any facility. Positions are also available in medical equipment training and sales.
Some students may begin the program with a foundation of transfer credits from another accredited university. After evaluating your credits, we work with you to develop an individualized plan to complete your program requirements.
Certificate in Polysomnographic Technology (44 credits)
A certificate will be awarded to students completing 44 credit hours of course work in polysomnography. This program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Completion of the certificate will allow the graduate to sit for the national registry exam in Polysomnographic Technology.
Please note that there is a one day residency requirement at the conclusion of the certificate program. Students will be required to come to the OIT campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon or to a site in Ohio to complete a mock practical and written exam in preparation for taking the national registry exam.

The clinical polysomnographic technology courses require placement in clinical sites. Students are responsible for selecting an accredited sleep disorder facility prior to admission into the program. Site agreeements between OIT and the accredited facility must be in place for the student to begin these courses. On site preceptors will work in conjunction with OIT faculty to ensure an excellent training experience. CPR and HIPAA certification is also required prior to beginning the clinical courses. Clinical sites require background checks and some may require drug screening.
Please also be aware that students admitted to the Certificate program are not eligible to receive financial aid. To be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, students must be enrolled in the Associate degree program. See below for information on the Associate degree.
Associate of Applied Science in Polysomnographic Technology (46 additional credits)
