Spirt Week Feb 11-18, 2013 Across Campus

Spirit Week is approaching!  Let's do a little huslin', Owls!

What is it? Spirit Week is a campus-wide event where departments everywhere can show their school pride.

When will this take place? Spirit week will run concurrent with Campus Life’s Homecoming Week, February 11-18th.

Why are we doing this? This is an event that came about due to a suggestion during an Administrative Council’s Brown Bag Lunch.  By showing our school spirit, each department and person that participates will be aiding in recruitment efforts.  There will be perspective students and their families on campus February 18th.

Details: This is a competition amongst participating departments.  The goal is to decorate offices or a common area.  Since this is a competition, there will be judges.  They will be scoring based on the use of school colors (Blue and Gold), owls and creativity.  Judging will take place Friday, February 15th, between 9am and 3pm.

Prizes will be awarded on both the Wilsonville and Klamath Falls Campuses, including a trophy and pizza for the winning department.

How do I get decorations?  President Maples has donated some funds for decorations.  On Friday, February 11th, purchased decorations will be divided amongst the departments.  If you would like some decorations, please send an email to Shellie.wilson@oit.eduInstitutional funds are not to be used for this event.

Ideas? Oregon Tech paraphernalia: mugs, flags, clothing, owls, …

  • Pick a theme using blue and gold colors and owls
  • Have stuffed owls at home?  Bring them in and set out for display
  • If you plan on dressing up, face painting, hair dying…do so on Friday the 15th for judging day.

Decorating reminders:
When hanging up decorations please use blue tape for those items that can be taped.  If something needs to be hung up with a nail, then Facilities needs to be contacted.  Please do not nail anything up without assistance from Facilities.  Whatever is put up and will not be staying up permanently, will need to come down on Tuesday, the 19th.  If there is window painting or anything that can be considered messy, it is up to the department to clean it up.  This event should not cause extra work for the custodians.

Let’s have fun with this!!  HOOT!  HOOT!!
