Dr. Charles "C.J." Riley, P.E.

Dr. C.J. Riley - Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering
Dr. Riley comes to Klamath Falls by way of Fort Collins, Colorado where he completed his PhD at Colorado State University in structural mechanics studying the nonlinear bulk properties of fibrous materials using the finite element method as well as beneficial use of fly ash based structural materials. He has two years of experience in bridge design, rating, and software development for transportation structures with the Wyoming Department of Transportation. His energy in the classroom is contagious as he works to engage students in relating physical phenomena to the myriad mathematical models engineers use to describe structural and mechanical behavior. He also brings a passion for sustainability to the Civil Engineering faculty and will be working to develop green building content for the curriculum. He is the chair of the Oregon Tech Sustainability Committee and advisor to the ASCE-AGC (American Society of Civil Engineers and Associated General Contractors) Student Chapter. Dr. Riley is also a member of the Oregon Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies Center (Oregon BEST) that promotes collaboration between Oregon universities and businesses to further renewable energy and sustainable development in Oregon.
Dr. Riley is a registered professional engineer: Oregon License 84420PE.
Dr. Riley joined the faculty at Oregon Tech in the Fall of 2008 and teaches senior electives as well as core curriculum courses:
