The Oregon Institute of Technology Dental Hygiene Department invites applications for a faculty position as instructor or assistant professor in a new bachelor degree program in Salem, Oregon.  This is a nine month, full-time position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Oregon Tech’s faculty salaries are competitive with our comparator institutions. The position begins September 16, 2013. 

Primary responsibilities will include teaching dental hygiene theory and science in the classroom and clinical teaching. Specific course responsibilities will be for restorative procedures, local anesthesia and prevention.  Other responsibilities include student advising, and participation as a department team member on curriculum issues, program assessment, accreditation, technology integration, teaching and learning methods; and community outreach. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required
• Five  years experience with direct patient care
• Current dental hygiene licensure
• Restorative endorsement
• Local anesthesia and nitrous oxide certification
• Evidence of continuing education and professional development

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Dental hygiene teaching experience
• Experience with various teaching methods
• Experience with current clinic and classroom technologies
• Expanded Practice Permit
• ADHA member
