The Oregon Institute of Technology Library is seeking a creative, technology-savvy, and enthusiastic librarian to serve as our instruction coordinator. The Oregon Tech main library is located in Klamath Falls, OR and serves over 3000 students. The Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance.
The successful applicant will enter as Instructor or Assistant Professor into a full time, 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position (based upon qualifications). This position reports to the Director of the Library and will be part of the library management team.The instruction coordinator will lead the library information literacy program through on site and virtual learning environments. The instruction coordinator will spearhead educational content development together with a team of librarians, and will provide outreach to the greater university community.
Primary responsibilities include: Developing, implementing, delivering and assessing the current and future library instructional needs of the institution including e-learning content; Ensuring that all library instructors are aware of the desired learning outcomes and goals and objectives of the overall instruction program. Assessing impact of library instruction program on meeting the mission of Oregon Tech; Collaborating on the development of credit-bearing research classes; Supporting information literacy needs of distance education students including strengthening and expanding the libraries’ online instruction presence; Marketing the library through social media and other strategies to promote library services and improve the library’s resources; Creating, writing and updating library publications, including subject guides and other instruction related web pages; Providing regular reference services, both in person and virtually. Variable reference hours are possible.
- ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS, MSLS, MLIS)
- Knowledge of information literacy pedagogy, instructional design, and current digital learning technologies.
- Familiarity with current and emerging trends in academic library services/resources.
- Capacity to learn new skills quickly and to manage a variety of tasks and shifting priorities.
- Ability to collaborate with staff at all levels and to work effectively in a collegial environment.
