Introduction to Academic Advising

The primary purpose of Oregon Tech’s academic advising program is to assist students in the development of meaningful educational plans that are compatible with their life goals. The ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans and life goals rests, of course, with each individual Oregon Tech student.

The academic advisor can help students realize their maximum educational potential, however, l by helping identify and assess alternatives and consequences of decisions. This can be accomplished through communication and information exchanges with an advisor. (see also Appendix C: CAS Standards and Guidelines for Academic Advising)
