The Federal and State Depository Library Programs at OIT
The Oregon Institute of Technology Library participates in the Federal Depository Library Program by receiving selected federal government documents from the U.S. Government Printing Office and adding them to the library collection for use by local citizens. If the item is not available electronically, the Federal government publications in various other formats in the Oregon Tech Library collection are shelved behind the Reference area and are arranged under the Superintendent of Documents classification system.
The Oregon State Library distributes all public documents deposited under the public documents depository program to the Oregon Tech Library. State government publications in various formats in the Oregon Tech Library collection are shelved behind the Reference area and are arranged under the Oregon Documents classification system. The State Library instituted the Oregon Documents Repository which collects, preserves, and provides access to online publications of Oregon state government. Like the print Depository Program, the Repository depends on the cooperation of publishing agencies, and of Oregon Documents Depository libraries, to provide continuing access to public documents..
We are currently making a major effort to enter records for all of our government publications into the library catalog. Items that have been cataloged can be found in the library's Web-based catalog. A reference librarian can assist you in determining if the library has other, government publications that are not included in the online catalog.
