Catalog Databases - for finding books

The library purchases access to Web resources for use by OIT students, staff, and faculty. To connect to these remote websites, you must be connected to a computer with an OIT Internet address. You can access databases from off-campus, either by dialing into an OIT web server, or via a
library proxy server account.

Hedgehog - OIT Library's catalog

Use this to find books in the OIT Library or to find out if we subscribe to a particular journal or magazine. There is an online Hedgehog Tutorial to help you learn about the catalog and its features. In the OIT Library collection, books are shelved using the Library of Congress classification (call number) system.

Summit - Northwest Academic Combined Library Catalog

Use this to find and request materials from several Northwest academic member libraries. OIT students, staff, and faculty can make online requests for loans of available books and have them delivered to the OIT Library, usually within 3 to 4 working days.

WorldCat - A combined catalog for thousands of libraries

Use this to find books at libraries all around North America and around the world. Check Hedgehog to find out if the book you need is in the OIT Library collection, and check Summit to see if it's available that way. OIT students, staff, and faculty can make online requests for loans of books from other libraries and have them delivered to the OIT Library. Delivery is usually by mail, and can take 1-3 weeks.

Safari Tech Books Online - Technical books full text online

This database provides books online for programmers and IT professionals. You can search through all the technical books in the library to find specific information or read books from cover to cover. You can also browse by category. Examples of topics are XML, database information, and .Net.

GPO Monthly Catalog - U.S. Federal government documents

Use this to identify federal government reports, maps, pamphlets and other publications. The catalog covers items produced and distributed since 1976 by the Government Printing Office. Check Hedgehog to find out if the document you need is in the OIT Library collection and check Orbis to see if it's available that way. OIT students, staff, and faculty can make online requests for loans of books from other libraries and have them delivered to the OIT Library. Delivery is usually by mail, and can take 1-3 weeks.

NetLibrary - Selected books full text online

Use this to find books in electronic format. The NetLibrary collection consists of older, classic books, such as those by Shakespeare or Mark Twain, and books about computer science and the Pacific Northwest. It also includes books well-reviewed in Choice, an academic book review journal.

Klamath County Library - Catalog for Klamath County Library

Use this to see if the Klamath County Library has the book you need. This is an especially good source for fiction and popular topics (pets, hobbies, how-to books, etc.).

Other Libraries
You may also wish to search the catalog of another library. The sites below provide some links to library websites. You cannot request a loan from these libraries directly, but OIT students, staff, and faculty can make a request through the OIT Library using the online Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
