Oregon Tech Falls to No. 22 Northwest University, 76-72
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – No. 22 Northwest University closed out the first half on an 11-2 run, and Oregon Tech never could recover, as the Hustlin’ Owls fell to the Eagles in conference play tonight at Danny Miles Court by a 76-72 final.

Oregon Tech is even at 10-10 on the season and 1-7 in Cascade Conference action. Northwest, with their first-ever win at Danny Miles Court, improves to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in CCC action.
The teams traded points over the first 16 minutes of action with both NU and Oregon Tech taking a pair of 5 point leads in that time frame. NU went up 12-7 at the 13:42 mark, while the Owls led by five points on an Austen Flint 3-pointer, 21-16, with 8:51 showing.
The game was tied 30-30 with 3:40 to play in the opening period before an 11-2 run put the visitors up 41-32 at the intermission.
In the second half Oregon Tech used a triple by Alex Zerbach to crawl back to within six points, 44-38, but Ryan McIntosh answered with a 3-pointer of his own with 16:29 remaining to give the Eagles their first double digit lead.
NU would lead by as many as 12 points, but back-to-back treys by Mihajlo Matic and Jordan Kiely cut the Tech deficit to just five points, 63-58, with 7:28 to play.
NU, however, took back control and led by 10 points with just over two minutes on the clock, but once again the Owls battled back behind a pair of Zerbach free throws and layup from Derek Evans to make it a 70-64 game with 1:47 to play.
The Owls would get as close as three points when Brandon Bautista connected from long range with 5.1 seconds to play, with an ensuing foul sending Michael Green to the charity stripe for NU. Greene’s first attempt rolled out, but second was good to put the Eagles up four points, 76-72. Tech, however, was unable to get a shot off as the game ended by the same score.
Four Owls finished in double figures with Derek Evans, Josh Johnson and Brandon Bautista all contributing 12 points in the loss. David Clarke would add 11 points. Josh Johnson grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds and Austen Flint 4 assists for Tech.
Ryan McIntosh led all scorers with a game-high 33 points, followed by a 27 point effort from Michael Greene. The duo combined for 21-of-30 from the field and 11-of-13 from the charity stripe. Greene would record a double-double after grabbing 11 rebounds in the win for the Eagles.
